Northville, Michigan
The City of Northville is a lovely Victorian-inspired town situated in the “golden corridor” of Western Wayne County Michigan. The city is only 2.2 square miles and actually sits equally between Wayne and the neighboring Oakland County.
In 2006 the city started a major facelift to bring an updated urban feel with coffee shops, art galleries and the opening of a new theater--The Turning Point. The new town square stretches right through Main Street. Another great attraction to the city is Northville Square, a 65,000 square-foot retail, restaurant, and office park. This indoor climate-controlled complex has a hip look and style, as do the specialty stores it features. Yet just down the road is The Mill Race Historical Village, a showcase for the architectural styles of the 1900’s, and a lovely complement to its modern counterparts.
The charming neighborhoods that surround downtown are filled with beautiful historic homes of unique character. The town even features Parmenter’s Cider Mill, a community staple every fall since 1873, and one of the many reasons why Northville is an incredibly sought-after place to live.
Northville Township envelops the city to the south with 16 square miles and gives a much more updated appeal. Huge homes and commerce have recently been built. Nearby Schoolcraft College Park boasts great restaurants of nearly every style as well as upscale stores and major chains. A beautiful new town hall building and fire station have also been added to serve the booming development.
The Northville area is one of natural beauty. Golf courses are prevalent, with the prestigious Meadowbrook Country Club housed here. Founded in 1916, it is one of the area’s oldest and most upscale clubs and presents quite a view in the heart of the township. Northville is also home to a variety of recreational facilities including Maybury State Park, which is comprised of nearly 1,000 acres of rolling terrain and home to an abundance of wildlife and wildflowers. |
